You Are My Letter

I have been feeling kind of bad lately, for never being able to write.  I have been listening to moms complain about having their children home for summer.  How they climb the walls and fight and complain about being bored.  Except, around here, it’s a hotbed of vice ALL of the time.  Summer, winter, spring, and fall.  And for a brief second I thought, “If my kids were in school, would I have time to write?”  And then it hit me.

I am writing.  You are my letter.

This verse ran through my mind.

“You yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.  You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts.”  2 Corinthians 3:2-3

I may not be writing with ink, but I am writing in the Spirit.  And I am writing on souls.  Every day.  How silly to think, even for a second, that I should want them to go away.  That I should wish for a tablet, when I have so many hearts.

Thank you, Lord Jesus.

  1. So what do you say when you’re around another woman’s complaining? I never know how to respond other than “that must be hard…” or expressing agreement in disapproval of sinful behavior, but I also don’t like encouraging complaints. My husband seems to get a good reception to “here’s what I do about that” with his fellow men but I don’t think that would work well with most women unless they’re clearly seeking advice. I want to just send them a link to Jim Wilson’s bitterness book but I’m not sure that would be well received either. 😉

    • Respond with something you are thankful for! I think that’s something the Spirit likes to drive home, with or without you. You don’t really need to say anything else. 🙂
